    Living Learning Community FAQs

    • Who are invited to participate?
      Freshman residential students.
(AKA: first-year students who are/will be living on the Dahlonega campus in the North Georgia Suites.)
    • What are the benefits?

LLCs are an ideal way to make friends who share your interests.

      Additional benefits include:

      • Early move-in registration.
      • Early class registration by attending the Special Population Orientation.
      • Easier study group formation

Research also shows that students in LLCs experience:

      • Higher academic success rates
      • Higher college graduation rates
      • Connect more easily with their peers
    • Does it cost extra to join?
No. It does not cost extra to live in an LLC. Normal rates and requirements apply for living in the North Georgia Suites and having a meal plan.
    • Are there additional requirements?
Each LLC has additional admission requirements outlined in the Housing Application of the UNG Housing Portal.
    • Do I have to live in the North Georgia Suites?
Yes. A first-year student wanting to be an LLC member must live in the North Georgia Suites.
    • What happens if I am not selected for an LLC?

Then your housing application will be accepted for normal placement and processed as a non-LLC housing application.

    • Can I be roommates with someone not in a Living Learning Community?

No. LLC students will be matched with other students within their assigned community who have the highest compatibility score from the housing portal. You will not have roommates outside of your LLC.

    Rolling Acceptance

If you missed the initial application deadline, you can still apply to join a Living Learning Community during the "rolling acceptance" period. To remain eligible, accept any North Georgia Suite housing you are offered. Then apply for the LLC of your choice if you have not already done so. You should receive either a community offer or a notification of your waitlist position in about 48 business hours after you apply.
