You Be the Judge: Copyright and Fair Use in the Courts

Posted: December 11, 2018

We're pleased to announce that registration is now open for an upcoming workshop titled "You Be the Judge: Copyright & Fair Use in the Courts." Terri Bell, UNG's Copyright Officer, will facilitate.

Through analyzing three copyright infringement lawsuits, this workshop will explore how the four factors of fair use are applied. Two lawsuits represent the category of Education/Scholarship/Research, and the third lawsuit is in the Film/Audiovisual category.

This will be a discussion-based presentation where participants will be involved in:

  • performing an analysis of the respective issues of each case
  • weighing the case against the four fair use factors
  • comparing their opinions with the court's final ruling on each case

A workshop will be held on the Dahlonega Campus in Dunlap Hall 211A on Friday, February 8, 2019, from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
A workshop will be held on the Gainesville Campus in Nesbitt 3203 on Friday, February 15, 2019, from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.

To register for either workshop, please fill out a CTLL Workshop Registration form.

Please feel free to send any copyright questions for discussion to Terri Bell at Terri.Bell@ung.edu in advance of the workshop.
