Hiring Faculty/Academic Administrative Positions

Position Description

The first step toward the hiring process is to complete a position description.

Completed Position Description

The department head or the administrative assistant to the dean will send over the position description to Human Resources for posting.



Approval of Position and Posting

Human Resources will:

  1. Create the posting in Hire Touch
  2. Send the posting out for approvals via Hire Touch.
  3. List the position as posted in Hire Touch once it is approved by all approvers.

Searching and Interviewing

Please Note: All applicants are sent directly to the department/search committee members and search chair. Human Resources does not screen faculty positions.

Hiring a Candidate

Ready to hire?

Search Committee Chair will:

  • Send a hiring proposal to Human Resources with the following information:
    • Name of the candidate they wish to hire
    • Salary amount
    • Any additional comments

Human Resources will:

  • Enter the hiring proposal in Hire Touch
  • Start the approval process via Hire Touch.

Offer Letter

Once the hiring proposal has been approved and received in Human Resources, an offer letter will be generated by the following:

  • Human Resources will create all part-time offer letters.
  • Academic Affairs will create all other offer letters for: Limited term, lecturers, and assistant/associate professors.

Hiring Process

Once the candidate accepts the offer, their onboarding documents will be available via Hire Touch.

The new hire needs to:

  • Complete all their new hire paperwork via Hire Touch.
  • Go by Human Resources to finalize the hiring process within three (3) business days of their start date. It is highly recommended they go prior to their start date.

Human Resources will:

  • Receive an email with the background check results from DSI.
  • Review the results and send an email to Faculty Record and the Human Resources assistants, information them that the background is complete and clear.
  • Notify the non-selected candidates via email that the position has been filled after the selected candidate has been hired.
