New Hire - Staff

Welcome to the team! We're so glad you joined us as the backbone that makes the university run smoothly.

Our onboarding process will get you through the necessary steps for your first six months.


To help you make the most of your time and have the best onboarding experience, please complete the following checklist.

Employee Checklist

Before Your First Day

  • Accept offer and complete all onboarding documents in Careers.
  • Complete background check consent forms in Accurate.
  • Communicate with your department's point-of-contact and make sure you understand:
    • Start date, what time to arrive and working hours
    • Dress-code expectations
    • Where to park and where to report
    • What to bring on your first day
    • Supervisor/departmental contact information
  • Prepare necessary documents to complete I-9 form (list of acceptable documents), and to sign up for benefits (additional information).
  • Explore UNG's website

First Day

  • Visit the HR (Human Resources) office to complete HR paperwork and I-9 verification forms.
  • Verify email and network password ( (Please note: Your email account will only be available if you come to the Human Resources office and finalize your new hire paperwork prior to your start date).
  • Obtain your UNG ID at the card office and parking pass at the parking services office.
  • Sign up for campus alerts through Banner.
  • If applicable, obtain your work uniform, materials, and other departmental property for your new role.

First 30 Days

Within 6 Months

  • Attend New Employee Orientation/Welcome.
  • Review performance objectives and progress with supervisor.
  • Discuss completed training and future training needs.
