Call for nominations for CTLL awards

The University of North Georgia encourages faculty and staff to pursue multiple awards and fellowships in various areas of focus. The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Leadership facilitates awards in multiple areas, including Leadership; Program and Department; Research and Creative; and Teaching.

Nominations for awards are open now through Wednesday, April 17, 2020 at noon. Winners will be announced at fall 2020 Convocation.
Leadership Awards
The UNG Emerging Leader Award recognizes faculty who have assumed leadership roles within the last five years and who exemplify UNG's commitment to shared governance and effective leadership.
Program and Department Awards
The Momentum Year Advising Award is designed to honor institutional advising that creates trajectory toward student success and completion. Using current baseline Momentum Year Institutional Data, this award is designed to recognize advising and other related (co-curricular) activities that improve institutional outcomes related to the Momentum.
The Momentum Year Award for Excellence in Teaching is designed to honor a program's or department's teaching and instruction that promotes student achievement, promotes a purposeful program and career choice, and creates an environment where positive academic mindsets thrive, catapulting students toward degree completion.
The Teaching Excellence Award for Department or Program is designed to showcase an outstanding department or program that promotes, supports, and recognizes excellence in teaching and in service to students.
Research and Creative Awards
The Distinguished Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award recognizes one faculty member annually whose teaching philosophy and research demonstrates sustained, exemplary engagement with the scholarship of teaching and learning. He or she systematically examines student learning and the instructional conditions that promote educational efficacy.
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award recognizes faculty and teaching staff whose research demonstrates valuable work in the scholarship of teaching and learning. The awardee engages in a systematic examination of student learning and the instructional conditions that promote learning. His or her work has been disseminated in public, peer-reviewed venues.
Teaching Awards
The UNG Teaching Excellence Award for Tenure-Track Faculty recognizes those who have consistently demonstrated outstanding instruction. The recipients' qualifications may include activities designed to advance the practice of teaching and learning, to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and/or global and multicultural understanding.
The UNG Teaching Excellence Award for Non-Tenure-Track Faculty recognizes those whose work advances the quality and practice of instruction, demonstrates their success in fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and/or increases global and multicultural understanding. The recipients' qualifications include effective teaching strategies to enhance student learning, such as active learning, student portfolios, and classroom assessment techniques, and a commitment to enriching academic activities outside of the classroom.
The UNG Distinguished Teaching Award recognizes excellence in teaching by a faculty member over the course of a distinguished career. The nominee's qualifications might include activities designed to advance the quality and practice of teaching and learning, to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and/or to increase global and multicultural understanding.
