According to the USG's Faculty Affairs website, a candidate's selection is based upon their "strong commitment to teaching and student success." These commitments are based on enhancing student learning through "innovative uses of technology, active learning, learning communities, student portfolios, and assessment." This award also highlights the faculty commitment of students' success outside of the classroom, such as advising and mentoring.
