External Scholarships
UNG’s Office for Enrollment Management now offers ScholarshipUniverse, a scholarship-matching and search tool which allows you to find thousands of external scholarship opportunities! Our students asked for this resource, and we listened. We recognize the importance of helping students find financial assistance to help with college expenses.
ScholarshipUniverse automatically matches you to endless external scholarships. Because ScholarshipUniverse has a strict vetting process for all external scholarships, you can be confident that your information remains confidential.

- You will receive automated reminders about pending tasks and next steps.
Private Scholarship Checks Information
Private scholarships are not directly related to UNG. Information regarding private scholarships can usually be found from your high school guidance counselor, local civic organizations, church groups, or your employer.
Ensure Accurate Delivery of Funds
- Make the check payable to UNG.
- If the check is made out to UNG and the student, the student must sign the back of the check.
- Put the student’s full name and UNG student ID on the memo line.
- Scholarships are automatically split in half between the fall and spring semesters unless otherwise stated in the scholarship letter.
- Return Policy
- Once the student notifies UNG that they are not attending, we will submit a check request to Accounts Payable to have the scholarship amount sent back to the donor.
- At the beginning of each semester, we will run a list of all private scholarships that have not paid out and will review each student account to see if they ever enrolled. If they did not, UNG will begin the check request process. For questions, contact Brooke Perry.
- In order for us to return the funds to a donor, the donor must be set up as a vendor with Accounts Payable. Because of this, a W9 may be requested from the donor before the check request can be processed. For questions, contact Crystal Abernathy.
