    • Requirements
      • An undergraduate applicant admitted as a non-degree student is allowed to earn up to 12 semester hours from selected courses. Students may not enroll in any course for which there is a learning support prerequisite unless they have been screened for and have exempted the relevant learning support course. Students are advised to check course prerequisites and descriptions carefully and to consult with an academic advisor prior to registering for courses. Review the courses approved for non-degree undergraduate students.
      • Post-associate or bachelor's non-degree seeking students must have earned an associate degree (does not include applied science) or bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
      • If you are 62 or older and are classified as a legal Georgia resident, you do not pay tuition or mandatory fees. To receive a waiver for tuition and mandatory fees, you must register for your classes on the first day of classes or during the drop/add registration period. Check the academic calendar for the semester in which you intend to enroll to determine the date of the first day of classes. You will be responsible for paying course specific fees and buying books. If you are pursuing a degree, apply for admission as a non-traditional adult student or transfer student.
      • If you seek academic credit and you are not auditing, you may not enroll in a course for which there is a learning support prerequisite unless you pass the ACCUPLACER exam requirements in reading, English, and math, or complete the appropriate learning support or other prerequisite course. Please check course prerequisites and descriptions and consult with an academic advisor prior to registering for a course. Effective 01/24/19 there is a fee of $11.50 USD per Accuplacer test session.
      • You may audit a class for no academic credit if space is available in the course you would like to audit. You will not be required to take course exams. If you are applying for admission solely to audit a course or courses, apply as a non-degree seeking student. After you are accepted for admission and during the course registration period, you must inform the registrar and your course instructor that you intend to audit the course. Once enrolled, you cannot change from audit status to credit status, nor can you receive retroactive academic credit. If you wish to receive academic credit, you must take the course again. Note that you will pay the regular course rate for tuition, fees and books.
      • Students whose secondary education was completed outside the United States system of education must also meet English Proficiency Requirements.

      Application Process

      • Step 1Application and Application Fee
      • Step 2Official Transcripts
      • Step 3Verification of Lawful Presence in the U.S.
      • Step 4Associate Degree Applicants
      • Step 5Application Review

Apply for admission online using GAFutures. Both Georgia and out-of-state residents create an account with GAFutures to apply.  If you cannot apply online, download a paper application. All applicants, online and paper, will pay a non-refundable application fee.

      • Non-degree seeking student:  Submit your official high school transcript showing a graduation date OR an official score report from GED, HiSET, or TASC. If you hold an associate (does not include applied science) or bachelor's degree, send an official transcript from the degree-granting institution instead of your high school transcript or GED, HiSET, or TASC scores.
      • Post-associate or bachelor’s non-degree-seeking student:  Submit an official transcript from your degree-granting institution showing that you earned an associate (does not include applied science) or bachelor's degree.

If you were internationally educated, please send an official National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES) or Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) evaluated document-by-document high school transcript or Certificate of Education. A GPA calculation is not required. The evaluation must be sent directly from the agency to the Admissions Office. Find a full list of NACES or AICE members

      OR

Complete this step only if you attended college outside of the US and want to transfer the academic credit received at your previous institution.

Your transcripts must have a foreign course-by-course credential evaluation by an independent evaluation service that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES) or Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE).

The evaluation must be sent directly from the agency to the UNG Admissions Office.

Find a full list of NACES or AICE members.

You must submit official transcripts from each US college attended.

You should not assume that you will receive credit for all courses you took at your previous institutions. Transfer credit is determined by us on a course-by-case basis.
If you want to major in education, we do not recognize transcript evaluations from World Education Services (WES). For more details on agencies you may use, visit the Georgia Professional Standards Commission website.

Submit your verification of lawful presence documentation if you wish to pay in-state tuition. This is not required if you pay out-of-state tuition. Out-of-state tuition is much higher than in-state tuition. Admission to UNG is not contingent upon proof of lawful presence. If you no longer wish to be considered for tuition at the in-state rate, please contact us so that we can remove the requirement from your record.

For associate degree applicants only: Register for the ACCUPLACER exam.  You must take the ACCUPLACER exam before we can evaluate your application for admission (see NOTE below).  Note that if you are a bachelor's degree applicant, you will take the ACCUPLACER exam (if required) after a decision has been rendered on your admission to UNG.

Two weeks after you complete steps 1-4, check your application status to ensure we have received all required documents to evaluate your application.
