How to Apply as a Graduate of an Unaccredited High School or Home School Program
If your home school program or high school is not accredited by one of the approved accreditation agencies, you are on the right web page. If your program is accredited, please use the new freshman requirements and application procedures.
Requirements for All New Unaccredited Home School or High School Applicants
16 or older before the first day of class. Younger students may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Submit a homeschool summary form (PDF) and homeschool portfolio. If you enroll in any college, ask the college to submit an official transcript.
Approved home-school and high school accrediting agencies
A regional accrediting association such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACSCASI).
All new freshman applicants should have at least a 2.4 high school GPA in the Required High School Curriculum.
College Dual Enrollment
Those applying for freshman admission who have completed dual enrollment through another institution while enrolled in high school should meet the following:
Bachelor's degree applicants: At least a 2.5 cumulative GPA on all college dual enrollment coursework. (Students with dual enrollment GPA's below this may be considered on a case-by-case basis.)
Associate degree applicants: Must be eligible to re-enroll at the institution where you dual enrolled.
Applicants who have been suspended from a college or university during dual enrollment may not be eligible for admission.
All students whose SAT or ACT test scores fall below bachelor's degree minimums, or who are deficient in the areas of English and/or math, must also have an English and/or Math Placement Index calculated for course placement and admission purposes. Minimum scores on these indices are required in addition to the minimum SAT/ACT requirements. For further details, please review the English and Math Placement Index Calculation document.

Bachelor's Degree Minimums
Admission to a bachelor's degree program is selective, and meeting minimum scores does not necessarily guarantee acceptance. For the 2021 application cycle, UNG will be using a GPA only admissions model and will consider applicants who have at least a 2.8 GPA in the Required High School Curriculum for admission. Those who have a Required High School Curriculum GPA of at least 2.4 and meet USG test score minimums will also be considered.

RHSC requirements can also be satisfied by obtaining the following scores on the SAT II subject test: English Writing - 520; World History - 540; Literature - 530; Biology - 480; Math 1C or IIC - 500; Chemistry - 540 - or Physics - 590; American History & Social Studies - 560.
You must submit a home school summary form and portfolio that demonstrates you are on track to complete your RHSC, or SAT II Subject exam results.

Associate pathways are not offered on the Dahlonega campus.
If your primary campus is Cumming, Gainesville or Oconee, please do not secure off-campus housing until after you have registered for New Student Orientation. Please view our off-campus housing resources.
You may choose to start in an associate degree program on our Cumming, Gainesville or Oconee campus, or in a bachelor's degree program on any campus. However, bachelor's degrees can only be completed on the Dahlonega or Gainesville campuses.
Not all degree programs are offered on all campuses. Please refer to the Degrees & Programs Listing to see which degrees are offered on which campus. You may need to take classes on other campuses or internally transfer to another campus to complete your degree.
You are not guaranteed a class schedule at particular times or locations.

Full-time students who are accepted on the Dahlonega Campus of UNG and who have not earned 60 semester hours or lived four semesters in university housing must live on campus. For further details, please visit UNG's Residence Policy in the Residency Life Handbook.
Apply for admission online: GAFutures. If you cannot apply online, download a paper application. All applicants (online and paper) will pay a non-refundable application fee.

If you have completed dual enrollment credit by the time you apply to UNG, please request an official college transcript to be sent to UNG directly from the college where you were taking your dual enrollment credit. If you have dual enrolled at multiple colleges, please request that an official transcript from each school be sent to UNG. We must receive the transcripts through e-script, Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse or another secure transcript delivery service directly from the institutions: choose Admissions Imaging Center or use admissions-gvl@ung.edu as the intended recipient. If your institution is mailing your transcript directly to UNG: UNG Admissions Imaging Center, PO Box 1358, Gainesville, GA 30503. (Transcripts sent by the student or parent are not considered official.)
You may request the College Board to send your SAT scores to account #5497, or your ACT scores to account #0848, regardless of which campus you want to attend. Test scores printed on high school or college transcripts will not be accepted.
Submit your verification of lawful presence documentation if you wish to pay in-state tuition. This is not required if you pay out-of-state tuition. Out-of-state tuition is much higher than in-state tuition. Admission to UNG is not contingent upon proof of lawful presence. If you no longer wish to be considered for tuition at the in-state rate, please contact us so that we can remove the requirement from your record.
The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy, Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 require higher education institutions to provide an annual security report and annual fire safety report that contain crime statistics and fire statistics for the three most recently completed calendar years, institutional policies or procedures for reporting crimes and current policies concerning the security of, and access to, campus facilities and residencies, as well as security considerations in the maintenance of campus facilities.
