How to Apply for Dual Enrollment

• The student must be entering their junior (grade 11) or senior (grade 12) year and enrolled in an eligible public or private high school, including an unaccredited home study or home school program.  Students in unaccredited home school programs must also meet bachelor's degree admissions home school requirements and submit a Georgia Home School Declaration of Intent form.
• The student must present a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher in their Required High School Curriculum (RHSC) coursework, and the transcript must show evidence that the student is on track toward the completion of the USG RHSC requirements and high school graduation.
• Applicants who have completed Dual Enrollment through another institution should have a 2.50 Cumulative GPA on all College Dual Enrollment coursework attempted.
• The student must meet the subsection minimum requirements for a single test type to be considered for dual enrollment admission. The minimum score requirements are listed below.

Corps of Cadets

Students interested in UNG's Corp of Cadets must be at least 17 years of age at the time of enrollment into the program.

Honors Program

Consider applying for UNG’s Honors Program if your GPA is a least 3.5 and standardized test scores meet one of the following:

• Evidence Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Math score on the new SAT of at least 1200
• Combined critical reading and math score on the old SAT of at least 1150
• ACT composite score of at least 25

Summer Language Institutes

Want to get a head start in your language learning journey? Apply for the Summer Language Institutes (SLI). SLI are carefully tailored, residential language programs of study in Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Russian. By successfully completing this six-week summer session, SLI participants earn eight (8) academic credit hours to fulfill the foreign language required for most bachelor’s degrees at UNG.

Joint Enrollment Program

The Joint Enrollment program at UNG allows a high school student in grades 11 or 12 to supplement and enhance their high school curriculum by enrolling in college courses. Courses taken through Joint Enrollment result in college credit only. Students may take one course or up to five courses per semester. These courses may be taken during all terms of the school year; fall, spring, and summer semesters. If a student wishes to attend as a Joint Enrollment student, the student must meet the Dual Enrollment admissions requirements and is responsible for payment of tuition, textbooks, mandatory fees, and course-related fees.

You may start as a dual enrollment student in a bachelor's degree program on any campus or online: Blue Ridge, Cumming, Dahlonega, Gainesville or Oconee. You are not guaranteed a class schedule at particular times or locations.

Q: I won't receive my SAT/ACT scores until after the UNG application deadline. What happens now?
A: You have the option to take the Accuplacer in-person on our Blue Ridge, Dahlonega, and Gainesville Campuses or on-line virtually. The exams are offered weekly. Note that scores from Accuplacer exams are only good for one year at our institution. Refer to our University Testing Center website for detailed information. Or, if you have PSAT/PACT scores, your high school counselor can submit your PSAT or PACT scores at the following email address: PSAT@ung.edu.

Q: Where will the college course credit I earn transfer?
A: To most four-year colleges and universities.

Q: What courses are available for me to take?
A: Any courses to which UNG students have access, and for which you meet the course prerequisites.  Please note that the Dual Enrollment program will only pay for courses from the approved course list.

Q: After I graduate from high school, how do I become a student at UNG?
A: To continue at UNG after high school graduation, you must complete a Dual Enrollment Program Intent Form by the specified deadline date for the term and campus you wish to be considered. You do not need to complete a new application for admission or submit an application fee. Please note that admission to a bachelor’s degree program is highly competitive and that admission is based on that year’s applicant pool. If you are ineligible for a bachelor’s degree program, you will automatically be considered for the associate degree pathway with the opportunity to internally transfer to a bachelor’s degree program at a later time.

Q: How do I schedule my classes?
A: You work with your high school guidance counselor and your UNG dual enrollment advisor.

Q: How many courses can I take?
A: You may take as many courses as you like; however, Dual Enrollment program will pay for up to 30 credit hours.

Q: Do my dual enrollment courses count against my HOPE scholarship cap after I graduate from high school?
A: No. HOPE covers 127 credit hours for bachelor's degree students and 90 credit hours for associate degree students.  The courses you take while dual enrolled will not reduce your cap.

Q: Can I dual enroll in the Dual Enrollment program at more than one college/university simultaneously?
A: Yes. You must apply for admission to each institution and list each on the GA Futures Dual Enrollment Funding Application. The Dual Enrollment program will pay for mandatory fees, tuition, and textbooks at each institution up to a total of 15 credit hours for the semester.

Q: Are dual-enrollment students allowed to live on campus?
A: No, students participating in dual-enrollment at UNG are not eligible to live in the residence halls.
