Group Tours

Group tours are a great opportunity to introduce your high school or community college students to the University of North Georgia. Group tours are organized with prospective college students in mind and are not intended for general school field trip purposes. Your visit will include a 20-30 minute Admissions presentation from an Admissions Representative and a 60-75 minute walking tour of campus. (Walking tour length varies depending on which campus you visit).

Groups must consist of 10 or more students. Our facilities can accommodate a total of 50 students at once. If your group exceeds 50 students please contact the respective coordinator for the campus you plan on touring for approval before scheduling.

We appreciate your interest in scheduling a group tour at UNG. To best coordinate your visit, the Office of Admissions has established the following guidelines:

Scheduling

Our group tours are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. We ask that requests for group tours be done at least one month before the date you wish to tour. All tours requested less than one month in advance risk the chance of not being able to be accommodated.

Your group tour will be confirmed through email within 3 business days of submission which will include your tour date, time, itinerary, location, and directions. Please see below for the days and times that we offer group tours on each campus.

Dahlonega Campus Group Tours:

  • Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 10:00am

Gainesville Campus Group Tours:

  • Monday & Wednesday at 2:00pm

Oconee Campus Group Tours:

  • Monday at 2:00pm
  • Wednesday at 10:00am

If these days and times do not work for your schedule, please contact the respective admissions coordinator.

To request a UNG Group Tour, please complete the UNG Group Tour Request form.

Cancellation Policy

  • If you need to cancel your group tour, please make sure to provide the Admissions Coordinator with at least 48 hour notice.
Arrival

We ask that you arrive on time but no later than 15 minutes from your original scheduled group tour. The group tour will begin promptly at the scheduled time. Please take into consideration that our visit times work with our student ambassadors class schedules.

In the event you will be arriving late, please contact the respective Admissions Coordinator.

If you arrive later than 15 minutes we cannot guarantee you a full length presentation or tour of campus.

Expectations
  1. We can accommodate up to 50 students for a group tour at a time. Any group number over 50 will require approval from the Admissions Coordinator before scheduling.
  2. A minimum of one chaperone is required for every 20 students. For example, 50 students would require three chaperones. The group tour will be canceled if a group arrives without an adequate number of chaperones.
  3. Chaperones must accompany their students at all times and are expected to monitor and control the behavior of each student. We expect all students and guests to be respectful of our UNG students, staff, faculty, and university property during your visit.
  4. Cell phones, iPods and other electronics need to be silenced during the presentation and tour of campus.
  5. Our Student Ambassador(s) and/or any other member of the UNG Admissions Office staff reserve the right to end a tour or visit at any time due to inappropriate behavior.

Failure to uphold group tour expectations may result in the inability to schedule future group tour visits for your school and/or group.

Tips

We ask that you encourage your students to be engaged and ask questions!

Our Ambassadors love interacting with visitors and want to be able to give them the best tour experience possible. Research UNG and challenge your group to come up with a few questions that they would like answered on their tour.

Need help getting started? Here is a list of questions other groups have asked.

  1. How many students are usually in a class?
  2. What clubs or organizations do you have or are you involved with?
  3. What type of residence halls are on campus?
  4. What athletic sports does UNG offer?
  5. Does the dining hall have different food options?
  6. Do you have any big events on campus for students like festivals, homecoming, etc?
  7. Are there opportunities to work on campus as a student?
  8. What would be your best advice for an incoming freshman student?
  9. What is a great hangout spot on campus?
  10. Why did you choose to go to UNG?
  11. What makes UNG unique?
  12. How do I apply to UNG or what are the requirements to attend UNG?

We are excited you have decided to spend your day at UNG and we hope you have fun!

Dining - Dahlonega Only

If your group would like to eat on campus during your group tour visit, please make sure to mark yes for eating on campus in the group tour request form. Once your request is made, our Admissions Coordinator will check the availability of the group tour date and will work with dining services to accommodate your group.

We only allow two forms of payment. You can pay with credit/debit cards or checks made out to UNG Dining Services. All meals must be paid for on one card or check. We are unable to divide up payments.

Students are able to choose from a variety of options, and meal selection is set up as an all you can eat buffet style. The menu changes daily. In order to see what will be served on the day of your visit, you can review our weekly menu the week of your visit.
